The rules of weddings today are that really there are no rules when it comes to styling and designing the wedding you want.
You don’t have to wear a white dress. You don’t have to have classic white wedding invitations with black script. You don’t have to have formal photographs taken. And you don’t have to have a traditional fruit cake built in tiers topped in white icing either. Not at all.
You can wear a red wedding dress, a blue bridal gown, or purple. Whatever you feel suits you best. And you can design invitations that reflect your personality and the location of where you’re marrying.
But for now, I’d like to talk about your cake choices – and that not only includes how your cake looks – but what it tastes like.
You don’t have to have a wedding cake in one single flavour
Whether you’re going for tiers or cupcakes – why not have a selection of flavours? Maybe one for each tier of your cake or cupcakes in five different flavours (with contrasting icing).
When Cheryl Fernandez-Versini got married recently her cake was in seven flavours including vanilla, chocolate oreo, coconut and lime (and we’d just like to say that our sister company GC Couture created it for her).
Which means that your wedding cake could reflect your wedding theme
If you’re having a rose themed wedding – I’m thinking colours, flowers, stationery, decor – then you could have a rose flavoured wedding cake. Rose is a wonderful flavour for a cake; it’s delicate, subtle and not overpowering at all, with the most wonderful aroma.
And you could have it decorated in the softest pastel coloured icing – and decorated with roses of course.
What if you’re a chocoholic?
Then how about a tiered wedding cake in chocolate flavours? And I’m not just talking one. (That’s a little conservative, don’t you think?)
We recently made a cake for a bride with five tiers in five flavours:
- Chocolate and Chilli
- Chocolate and Orange
- Chocolate and Raspberry
- White Chocolate
- Milk Chocolate
And if you feel you should be just a little bit traditional …
Then you should come along and taste our fruit cake without the bits – which is exactly that. A sponge that tastes just like fruit cake but with a smooth texture.
So I’m thinking maybe a wedding cake with flavoured tiers in chocolate, rose, fruit cake without the bits. And that’s just for a classic three tier – you can go as high as you like!
The best way to decide on the wedding cake flavour that’s right for you is to get in touch with us and arrange a time to come in and have a complimentary taste testing session. Let us know what flavours particularly appeal to you and we’ll get some mouth-watering samples ready for you. (Give yourself a bit of time out from that wedding diet.)
And if you are really rushed and you can’t see how you can make the time to do that, then browse our cake flavours and order a sample box by post which we’ll deliver to you for just £6. Or pop in and pick it up and take it home if you’re local.
Getting your cake flavour right is just another way of personalising your big day so that it’s how YOU want it.
